Description
This coastal chandelieris made from genuine teal and white sea glass and driftwood from the beaches of Portugal.
Each piece of glass was collected from the beach by me, brought home where I washed it, dried it, drilled it, oiled it and hung it to create this light. The driftwood is also genuine and from the beaches here in Portugal. I applied several layers of paint to the wood, giving it a weathered boat wood look.
The rope from which the light hangs is genuine fishing line which was also found by me on the beach in Portugal. Fishing rope is often discarded by fishermen and is very dangerous to sea life, making it important to remove from the beaches.
This light is a piece of functional art, it was created to add beauty to any room, but also makes an important statement about sustainability, up-cycling and being environmentally aware.
